Professions — a practice, from the corpus its owner kept.
This is the sector the Records track was thought out for. Strategic Agent captures the skill set of a professional from the corpus they retained over a career and mined into a reference. One track runs here, Records. The sector is open, with nothing filed yet.
Health professions are a family here — optometry, dentistry, physiotherapy and the other regulated practices — for the practitioner's own method: the protocols, the examination routines, the checklists a good clinic runs on. A patient's chart carries the patient's confidence and is never part of it.
One track, and the Source is usually a person.
What files here is a professional's own practice: their files, mined into a reference that answers with named sources and refuses where the records do not carry it. Engineering, architecture, surveying, law, accounting and consulting are the families; the field practised in is the trade.
A Records Source is one of two kinds, and the Card says which. A named person's practice: the Source is the person, and the name stays on it. A company's records: the Source is the company, coded and never named publicly. Here it is usually the first — one professional, one practice, one corpus.
The capture is written for the retiring expert, the firm losing a principal, the estate of a practice, the owner-principal. An engineer's practice is the first case in the record, because a professional's expertise is already substantially written down by obligation.

The family digit is the profession practised; the trade is the field the practice works in, so an engineer in civil work and one on pipelines carry different trades under one family. Family 0 is a Set.

A family or a trade is opened by decision of the register, recorded in the standard; a code is never renamed or reused, and a number is never reassigned.
How a number here would read.
Nothing is filed here. P R 1 001 CV · 1 — Professions, Records, the engineering family, first in sequence, the civil trade, edition one — would be an engineer's practice in civil work: an illustration, not an entry in the Book, and in machine form PR1001CV16, the tenth character a computed check.
Mining first, then ratifying.
Step zero is an inventory. Somebody declares what the body of records is, it is checked against that declaration, and a dated statement of what was in it is issued and sealed. A later change is detectable, and the Source can always answer what was handed over. Even Steven holds it with the consent.
Records mining comes first. A converter turns the retained paper into a reference: calculations, reports, specifications, job files, procedures, bid files, notes. Every output carries a receipt saying where it came from, and the reference declines the question the paper does not answer.
Ratify comes second. The agent drafts method statements from that same paper and the person accepts, amends or declines each one, so every ratified statement is authored and dated rather than inferred from the pile.
Nobody is interviewed and nobody is recorded to build a Records set. That is the Hands track, in another house. The paper here is already written.
The method, and the files that carry a confidence.
A professional's own method — the calculations, the procedures, the specifications, the way the work is done — is one thing. Files that carry a client's confidence are another, and in some professions the second cannot be licensed at all without every client's consent. A licence does not cure a missing consent.
A receipt says where a passage came from, not who wrote it, and in a practice of any size those are not the same thing. Authorship is recorded before any mined reference is licensed under a person's name.
Whose documents they are is open. An employed expert's files are usually the employer's, and often the client's, and no court has settled what an individual may license out of them. It is clean for an owner-principal licensing their own files; counsel rules the rest.
A reference carries the knowledge that can be written down — the kind that would take too long to write out, the kind a person does without knowing they do it — and neither the somatic kind nor the collective kind. The paper says which grade is bought.
No house collects in Professions today.
Steady Eddie and Strategic Agent require skill sets. Even Steven owns them. Tacit Tessera licenses them to OEMs and to AI. No house collects in this sector; one that collects here is named on this page when it does. A professional's paper is with Even Steven, which owns the skill set for the person it came from, holds the consent and pays under that agreement. Tacit Tessera asks a Source to sign nothing: it issues the number, seals the Card, licenses the edition and counts every use.
Reference, never the seal.
A Records set built from a practice is reference and decision support. It never seals a drawing, never signs and never releases money. A licensed person approves every number and applies their own seal. No skill set is licensed for building a model, and no licensee may build one from it.
A licensee is an OEM — a maker, a kit company, a business — or an AI: a platform, an agent builder, a command centre. Both get a numbered, sealed edition, a count of every use, and the seal check at tacittessera.com/verify. The unit is a serve, and the tiers are named:
Consult
A composed answer citing its sources by document and anchor, quoting short passages, giving figures as bands over many jobs.
Apply
A work product the customer saves as their own document, carrying its comparables, assumptions, what is missing, its sources.
Reference
A pack for an agreed scope, from Sources who opted in to that tier, returned or destroyed against a certificate.
No single job's figure is ever served. A Source can end it: on Hands and Machine the ruled timing is It stops for new work at once; a job already underway finishes. — here a withdrawal takes effect at the next serve, and that Source is not served again.
The engineer's practice.
An engineering practice holds a permit to practise, names a responsible member, keeps a practice plan, and retains its authenticated work for a period the regulator sets. A profession obliged to write things down and to keep them is the one whose corpus is already there, which is why the record names it first.
Two objects, made at issue.
At issue two objects are made for a skill set and posted to its Source: the plate, the tile made solid at 70 × 44 × 4 mm, and a card for a wallet carrying the same marks. A check at the verify address answers whether this number, this edition and this seal are the ones the register issued. It does not answer who owns the skill set, and it does not say that no copy exists elsewhere. None has been made, because nothing is issued.
