Even Steven — the house that owns.
Steady Eddie and Strategic Agent require skill sets. Even Steven owns them. Tacit Tessera licenses them to OEMs and to AI.
Even Steven faces the Source — the person in the seat, the professional whose practice it is, the company whose records they are. It holds the consent, the paper and the pay. Tacit Tessera holds the number, the Card, the tile and the count. Two companies, two papers, and the split is the point.
Every skill set, whoever collected it
Even Steven owns what is made of every skill in the register, for the person or company it came from. That holds on all three tracks. A Hands skill set collected with the Trainer is owned by Even Steven. So is a Machine package. So is a Records reference mined from a professional's own practice files, and so is one built from a company's records.
Ownership does not move when a skill set is licensed. A licence pins an edition and says who may run it, and it moves nothing else. There is no lump sum and no buyout.
What the Source keeps
You own your skill, always and forever.
The Source signs with Even Steven
A Source signs with Even Steven, never with Tacit Source. Even Steven's own pages say it plainly: “Tacit Source never asks you to sign anything.” The register carries the number and the record of use. It does not put paper in front of the person.
That is why the operator's card carries this line on its back: Your agreement is with Even Steven. It holds on a Records set as it holds on a Hands set, for a named practice and for a company's records alike.
Every Even Steven agreement is still a draft for counsel, and none is signed. Even Steven licenses the body of records to Tacit Source; that arrangement is ruled and its paper is not yet drawn. Even Steven will contract as its own corporation and name a privacy officer; no incorporation document exists yet.
Four consents, each given and ended on its own
Consent is not one signature. It is four separate permissions, each given on its own and each ended on its own.
Consent one
To be recorded.
Consent two
To be held alongside others.
Consent three
To run under the person's own name.
Consent four
To be used to train a model.
The fourth is the one this architecture does not depend on. Consent is read at the moment of recording and never reaches back over work already done. There is a further consent, separate again, to be listed at all; and where a union or works council has a say, a second signature is required. What is paid for the fourth consent is not written down yet, and no figure for it appears anywhere.
Collecting on the Hands track is done with Steady Eddie's kit: it arrives by courier in a case, with a video to watch on a phone, and goes back on a prepaid label. The consent that stands behind it is Even Steven's. The seat belongs to the machine throughout: a person on the crew clears the job, and a person at the machine can stop it. On the Records track nobody is interviewed and nobody is recorded; the paper is already written, and the person ratifies what is drafted from it.
The number sits beside the name
A way of working is found, chosen, counted and ended under the person's own name. The Tacit Tessera number sits beside that name on the Card, on the tile and on the licence. It is how the register writes the name down. It never stands in its place.
The same rule reaches the Records track wherever the Source is a named person's practice: the professional's name is on the Card and stays on it, with the number beside it. Where the Source is a company, the company is coded and never named publicly, and no person's name is put on it instead.
There is no rank, no score, no grade and no paid placement, and entries within a family sit in no order. A way of working is chosen by name and is never put together with another. A set is a shelf, not a stew.
One line holds wherever a record is asked for, and nothing further is said on the subject: a record is never supplied to assess the person, to an insurer or to anyone else.
Withdrawal
Each consent can be ended on its own, and ending one is never a breach of anything. The rule on timing is one sentence: It stops for new work at once; a job already underway finishes.
There are two dates and they are never collapsed into one — the out-of-service date, the day the job already underway has finished and nothing runs it anywhere, and the true date, the day every copy is gone, backups included. The withdrawal itself stays on file. Nobody can extend it. On the Records track the unit is a serve, so a withdrawal there takes effect at the next serve. Material used to train a model comes out when that model is next built, and the person is told that date before they sign.
What one Hands entry is
A Hands entry is one named person's way of running one family of machine, held with that person's consent. A different family, or a different person, is a different number. Each entry carries its own scope, its own refusals, its own count and its own ending. Several numbers can sit under one licence as a Mosaic, with family 0, and no member loses its own count, its own name or its own ending by being on that shelf.
EXAMPLE Every Hands entry in the Book is an example, carrying an invented licence name. The mark on the tile is the collector's. Where Even Steven collected the hand — with the Trainer it adopts from Steady Eddie, on whatever machine the hand runs — the tile carries ES; what it owns is written on the Card. No capture session has ever been recorded, and no hand is listed today.
Issued by Tacit Tessera; the agreement stays with Even Steven
The wallet card carries the person's licence name first and largest, with the tile and the number beside it. Its front reads Issued by Tacit Tessera, because the register issues it. Its back carries five short lines, and one of them names the house the person signed with.
A printed card cannot be recalled, so its authority comes from the verify address and not from the plastic: every lookup is recomputed from the sealed Card, and nothing is stored as a verdict. The card carries no rank, no grade and no link that opens the person's file.
Payment is weekly, by electronic transfer, with a statement by email. What is paid, and at what rate, belongs to Even Steven's own pages and is not written here. On the register's side the count is the economic record: the hour cleared at the machine and the hour paid are the same row, and the person can check that row at source.
